Supplies:
- 2-3 balls each color of worsted weight kitchen cotton(MC for Main Color and SC for Secondary Color)
- Size “J” crochet hook
- Needle for weaving in ends
- 2 4” [5”for large size] lengths of ¼” elastic
- Stitch marker
Gauge
Gauge is not important for this as it can be any size you wish by changing the type of yarn and the hook size.

This pattern is written for a Small sack with changes for Large in [ ]’s

Do Not Turn at the end of each Rnd unless stated.
Sack
Rnd 1 – With MC, ch 40 [50], sl st to form ring (being careful not to twist ch), ch 2(does NOT count as first dc), dc in same ch, dc in each ch around, join with sl st to first dc (not ch-2). –(40, 50 dc)-
Note: Entire next rnd worked in FRONT LOOPS ONLY. Mark first Back Loop for Layer 2 of elastic band.
Rnd 2 – Ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off. –(40, 50 dc)-
Rnd 3 – Attach yarn in marked dc for layer 2 of elastic band, ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Joining Rnd
Rnd 4 – Lay Rnd 2 on top of Rnd 3 and work through both layers, inserting elastic before closing seam at end of rnd, ch 2, dc in same st(both layers) and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Note: The number in the [ ]’s is for the large sack size. Complete the number of rows according to size.
Rnds 5-6 [8] – Ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Note: Entire next rnd is worked in BACK LOOPS ONLY. Mark first Front Loop for Skirt placement.
Rnd 7 [9] – In BLO, ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Rnds 8 [10]-16 [22] – Ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Note: Entire next rnd worked in FRONT LOOPS ONLY. Mark first back loop for layer 2 of elastic band.
Rnd 17 [23] – Ch 2, dc in FLO of same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off. –(40, 50 dc)-
Rnd 18 [24] – Attach yarn in marked st for Layer 2 of elastic band, ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Joining Rnd
Rnd 19 [25] - Lay Rnd 17 [23] on top of Rnd 18 [24] and work through both layers, inserting elastic before closing seam at end of rnd, ch 2, dc in same st(both layers) and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. –(40, 50 dc)-
Rnd 20 [26] – Ch 2, dc in same st and in each dc around, join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off. –(40, 50 dc)-
Skirt
Rnd 1 – Attach SC (secondary color) with sl st in marked Front Loop of dc for skirt placement, ch 1, sc in same st, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc (shell made), *sc in next dc, shell in next dc, repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc. –(20, 25 shells/20, 25 sc)-
Rnd 2 – Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, shell in ch 2-sp of next shell, *sc in next sc, shell in ch-2 sp of next shell, repeat form * around, join with sl st to first sc. –(20, 25 shells/20, 25 sc)-
Rnds 3-X – Repeat Rnd 2 until skirt measures two rows longer than sack holder (which is under the skirt). –(20, 25 shells/20, 25 sc)-
Skirt Trim
Rnd 1 – Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 3, sc in same st, ch 3, *sc in next st, ch 3, sc in same st, ch 3, repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc.
Straps(make 2)
Ch 30, insert one end through four dc’s on rnd 3 of sack holder, sl st to form ring (this will make the ring attached to the holder), sl st in each ch around ring, join with sl st to first sl st. Fasten off. Repeat for second strap placing it halfway around the top from the first strap.
Weave in ends.
