Supplies:

• Sugar and Cream worseted weight cotton

        (MC-cream approx. 2 balls/SC-pink less than one ball)

• Hook size G (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• Purse Handles
• Darning Needle (for sewing seams and weaving in ends)

Ch 11
Row 1 - Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (10 sc)
Row 2-10 - Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
8 hdc = 2 inches
3 rows = 1 inch

V-stitch – hdc, ch 2, hdc in same stitch

SQUARES (make 4)
Ch 4
Rnd 1 – Sl st to form ring, ch 2, 2 hdc in ring, ch 2, * 3 hdc in ring, ch 2, repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 2 – Ch 2, hdc in next 2 hdc, (hdc, ch 2, hdc in next ch 2 sp) V stitch made, * hdc in next 3 hdc, V stitch in ch 2 sp, repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.

Rnd 3 – Ch 2, hdc in next 4 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, * hdc in next 5 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.

Rnd 4 – Ch 2, hdc in next 6 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, * hdc in next 7 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.

Rnd 5 – Ch 2, hdc in next 8 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, * hdc in next 9 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.

Rnd 6 – Ch 2, hdc in next 10 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, *hdc in next 11 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2. Fasten Off

NOTE: This entire rnd 7 worked in FRONT LOOPS ONLY

Rnd 7 – Attach SC (secondary color) with sl st in FRONT LOOP ONLY of any st from rnd 6. *Ch 2, sl st in next st, repeat from * around ending with sl st to first sl st.  Fasten Off

RECTANGLES (make 2)
Ch 25
Rnd 1 – Hdc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, hdc in sam sp, hdc in next 23 ch’s, ch 2, 2 hdc in same sp, ch 2, hdc in same sp, hdc in next 22 ch
(these will be in free loops back along original ch), hdc in same sp as first hdc, ch 2, join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 2 – Ch 2, hdc in samd hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 24 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 2 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 24 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.

Rnd 3 – Ch 2, hdc in next 3 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 26 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 4 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 26 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.

Rnd 4 – Ch 2, hdc in next 5 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 26 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 6 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, hdc in next 26 hdc, V-stitch in next ch 2 sp, join with sl st to 2nd ch of first ch 2.  Fasten Off

NOTE: This entire rnd 5 worked in FRONT LOOPS ONLY.

Rnd 5 – Attach SC with sl st in Front Loop Only of any st from rnd 4. *Ch 2, sl st in next st, repeat from * around ending with a sl st to first sl st.  Fasten Off

SIDE PANELS (make 2)
Ch 7
Row 1 – hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (6 hdc)

Row 2-20 – Ch 2, turn, hdc in each ch across.  Fasten Off

BOTTOM PANEL (make 1)
Ch 7
Row 1 – Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (6 hdc)

Row 2-25 – Ch 2, turn, hdc in each hdc across.  Fasten Off.

POCKET (make 1)
Ch 15
Row 1 – Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (14 sc)

Row 2-24 – Ch 1, turn, sc in 2nd sc from hook and in each sc across.  Fasten Off

ASSEMBLY

SIDES (MAKE 2)
With right sides facing and the ruffle in between the two sides, sew together 2 squares using the free loops from the 2nd to last rnd.

In same manner, sew the rectangle along the bottom edge of the two squares.
Sew pocket to wrong side of one side.

ATTACH PANELS

Sew side panels to bottom panel along short sides
Sew sides to side panels and bottom panel, matching lengths up.
Sew on handles of choice.
